The balay lamok tree, scientifically known as Crateva adansonii, is a native tree found on Bantayan Island. Its trunk is not too tall nor too short—just about right. It can grow between 5 to 10 meters in height. The color of its trunk is somewhat grayish or brown. Its leaves are arranged in a compound whorled pattern. The color of the leaves is green and fairly broad, but they appear pale when they get older. Each leaflet is oblong or oval-shaped, with a slightly pointed tip and a smooth surface. When you crush the leaf, it gives off a scent that’s somewhat similar to tanglad (lemongrass). The fruit is round in shape. Its color is green when unripe and turns brown or yellowish when ripe. Inside, the fruit contains seeds, and its flesh is somewhat sticky or gluey.
Ang iya dahon kag bunga ginggamit para byung sa sakit sa tyan ,problema sa pagihi(UTI) kag makapaayo sa kidney function.
Its leaves and fruits are used as traditional medicine to help treat stomach aches, urinary problems (such as UTI), and to improve kidney function.
