The Seed Saving initiative supports both innovative and traditional farming by identifying crops that are easier to cultivate on the island and can be sold at lower prices locally, helping to improve income and food security for the entire community. Farmers are re-taught how to establish seed libraries using their own heirloom seeds, transforming them into Seed Saving Communities. This seed library will ensure that everyone in Barangay Atop-atop has access to a diverse range of seeds, reducing dependence on market-bought GMO seeds during planting season and strengthening the community’s agricultural resilience.
